Between Lucerne & Interlaken

Naturfreundehaus Brünig is located on the Brünig Pass at around 1000 metres above sea level, between Lucerne and Interlaken.

The house is situated on the hillside, slightly below the pass road. It is easy to reach by train and car, but the exact access route is important.

Important: do not blindly follow Google Maps

Google Maps sometimes shows a wrong or unsuitable route.

Please use the following coordinates for arrival:

These coordinates lead to the correct access road to the house. After that, please follow the signs.

Between Lucerne and Interlaken

In the middle of Switzerland

20 minutes to Interlaken
35 minutes to Lucerne

Nearby places include Meiringen, Hasliberg, Lungern, Brienz and Sarnen.

The location is suitable for travelling through, hiking, ski days, working stays or a few simple days in the mountains.

Arrival by train and bus

The nearest station is:

Brünig-Hasliberg

From there, it is about 7 minutes on foot to the house.

The connection works well for guests travelling without a car.

Arrival by car

Access by car is possible all the way to the house.

The last section leads along a simple forest road. It is passable with normal cars when conditions are good.

If you do not want to drive all the way to the house, you can park by the pass road near the Schwingerarena. The parking area is lit and free of charge. From there, it is about 7 minutes on foot to the house.

Winter / snow

In winter, the road is cleared of snow.

However, in snow or icy conditions, 4×4 or snow chains are required.

Access, and especially driving back down, is at your own risk.

Coach buses

Coach buses cannot drive all the way to the house.

They can stop nearby, at the Schwingerarena. From there, it is about 10 minutes on foot to the house.

Parking

There are some parking spaces at the house.

For larger groups or several cars, it is best to discuss the parking situation with us in advance.

Good to know

The house is not located in the middle of the village, but slightly on its own on the Brünig Pass.

That is part of the place: quietly located, but not remote.
